Blog Assignment 2

Did you know 3.0
After watching the video I have come to the conclusion that teachers need to work harder with the students starting in elementary school. One way to do this is by helping them to progress in English language and into subjects such as science and math. By doing this you will prepare our students for the world upon graduation.

Look how far we have come along with the Internet and computers is crazy. In a span of 20 years we have gone from computers running on ms/dos to smart phones that have computers built into them. The first computer fit in a room now the computers are so small they fit into our pockets. I rarely check my computer at home for emails, Facebook or any other social networking items because I can do it on my iPhone. I can not wait to see what happens in the next 10 years or so.

 Mr. Winkle Wakes
After watching the video I found this video to good and bad for the way society is today. Being able to talk to someone across the globe is a great tool for networking and work. One bad item would be putting something online for your friends to see and the whole globe has come across it. I think if you know how to

use technology correctly then it will be in your advantage. Using technology to save lives in a hospital is great for all countries and people.

In the school I think we need more technology to help advance our students and make school more interesting. Sitting in a lecture all day only gives students a sour note. We should be able to go from lectures to showing the students that they are studying what works in the real world
after graduation.

The Importance of Creativity

First off Ken Robinson is pretty funny, but he hits the creativity right on the spot. We let kids be creative at a young age but when they get older we stop their creativity. Why do we force them to stop being creative? We are trying to educate kids on something that is not even around yet. Trying to prepare them for the future of what we really do not know anything about. That gets pretty hard because most of it becomes guess work.

He makes a point on something in the arts but it was true. Most of the schools
are taking arts away and pushing it out of school. We should allow our students and kids to follow something they love even if it was in the arts and not in school. We need to educate the whole student and not just the mind. All of our
education systems are the same and not different and that keeps kids from there
full potential. We need to keep our body from just being a transport for our heads, which means we need to educate the whole body not just the brain.

Cecelia Gault (Young Student in Finland) Interviews Sir Ken Robinson

We need to split up our time in schools between technology, arts, and the curriculum courses which is, true. With how the world is advancing in the technical aspect of today we need to teach that way. We need to bridge the gap between our country and others world wide. We also need to bridge the gap between the older and younger generations. Need to have our communities and students get together to fix problems. He says that all are creative that is true we just need to push students to find what that creativity is.

Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts

I like how she lets her students teach parts of the class so they can get a hang
of what they are doing better. Putting them in touch with world is great and
helps them learn about stuff outside of where they are from digitally. If you
empower kids and give them opportunities to succeed then they will succeed in life.

I like how she uses all parts of technology to help teach students. Sharing ideas between students and teachers from abroad helps you to better learn different ways of finishing projects from different points of view. I think by taking the students to the other countries who they worked with will also let them meet
those who helped with the projects. More schools should be able to run classrooms like hers.

  1. Did you know? - I certainly agree with you about how technology has grown within the last ten years or so. I myself cannot believe how people can come up with these inventions and how something so small as a notebook can allow you to do just about anything.

Mr. Winkle Wakes - I also believe we should have more technology in schools. Change is definitely a good thing. New technology will probably keep the children more interested compared to what they are use to.

The Importance of Creativity - I also liked what Sir Ken Robinson had to say. He definitely kept me interested and laughing. He made very good points about creativity. Creativity is something that should follow each person throughout their life and not disappear when he/she ages.

Cecelia Gault (Young Student in Finland) Interviews Sir Ken Robinson - I really like how you said that we should bridge the gap between our country and others worldwide. I believe the U.S should definitely catch up on what is going on in Finland due to the example of Cecelia Gault being so educated at a young age.

Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts - I definitely agree that Mrs. Vicki Davis is a great teacher when it comes to educating students on technology and how to use it. She uses some really great techniques. Allowing her students to break off in groups to teach other classmates is such a great idea. Not only will the students be teaching the other classmates, the students teaching will be learning as well. Also, by interacting with people around the world students can learn about the technology being used there.

  2. Dustin,

I think you are absolutely right about teaching our students more information at a younger age. I believe children have much more capabilities than we think they do, and we should allow them to grow as much as possible. The technology world is changing at a rapid pace, and when I really think about it, it blows my mind. I love technology!

I also agree that we should educate the whole student, and we should definitely encourage them to pursue things they enjoy. We all have different learning strategies and things we are interested, and as teachers, we should help our students discover the things that they do well at. We also need to find unique ways to present the information to help our students stay interested in the subject matter.

Technology is a great way to stay connected and get our students excited about school. There are many inspiring teachers who are using technology in a productive way, and I hope you learn a lot from this class that you can use in your future classroom.
